It was an absolute scorcher which made it a hike and a half around this wonderful course. The greens were in great condition and the rough was incredibly unforgiving.
The round altogether looked as if it was going to be a particularly slow round as members seemed to be enjoying the sun a bit too much – there was even one member who had crouched all the way down to his front as if he was playing a snooker shot on the green…fortunately I just missed him with my next shot!
There were some interesting shots throughout the round; none other than Mark Jones’ several miraculous shots with his new found wand! I suppose we did get a little moany with the members of Aston Wood but we found that several bunkers weren’t raked and divots not replaced – along with a chap who decided to get a bacon butty at the half way house AFTER his three teammates had teed off!!!
All in all it was a fabulous day and the eventual winner was Mr Jones who seemed to be working miracles all the way round the course.
Congratulations to Kev Daly and to Les Gwillym who won the nearest the pins and it was Kev who picked up the dough for getting the only 2 of the day!
It was lovely to see that on arrival Aston Wood had laid on a lovely little message for Mr and Mr Donnelly – just to prove that we’re not just the best society but most inclusive as well!
The day was very enjoyable and the weather certainly helped – especially when we got back to the 19th for well deserved refreshments!
Until next time hackers!
